AFTER Goyang Sono’s statement win the day before, another road team followed suit.
Busan KCC Egis carried its momentum into the semifinals, routing Anyang KGC, 91-75, in Game 1 of their best-of-five series in the Korean Basketball League on Friday.
Fresh off a quarterfinal sweep of Wonju, Busan wasted no time asserting control, dictating the tempo early before fending off Anyang’s push in the middle quarters.
William Navarro, who had been sidelined the entire quarterfinals, finally saw action but in limited minutes - logging just over a minute and unable to register a stat as the Egis cruised to a wire-to-wire victory.
Anyang showed signs of life in the third period, clawing back to force a 46-all deadlock, but that proved to be their last stand.
Busan responded with a decisive 21-7 run, blowing the game open and establishing a cushion they would not give up the rest of the way.
On the other end, Rhenz Abando had a solid night for the Red Boosters with 12 points, six rebounds, and one assist, but lacked enough support as the second-seeded Anyang struggled to keep pace down the stretch.
Game 2 shifts back to Anyang on April 26, with the Red Boosters looking to regroup on their home floor, while Busan eyes a commanding 2-0 series lead.
