MALOLOS - Bulacan shook off a slow start to complete a come-from-behind 73-70 win over Pasay in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.
Jovit Dela Cruz scored all his four points in the endgame while James Martinez hit a crucial trey to lead the Mighty Sports-backed Kuyas to their 10th win in 15 games for fifth spot in the tough northern division.
The Kuyas trailed by as many as 19 points in the second period (38-19), but fought back by holding the Voyagers scoreless in the last 3:10.
The Kuyas are now 9-1 at home while the loss sent the Voyagers to a tie with the Valenzuela Classic for eighth spot on 6-9 slates.
Earlier, Pampanga blasted a shorthanded Laguna team that played without veteran guard Denok Miranda, 75-58, to move up to 6-10.
Levi Hernandez and Michael Juico finished in double figures and got the needed help from unheralded Jeric Fabian, who came away with a career-high 17 points.
Hernandez led the way with 18 points, 12 coming in the third period, while Juico added 10 points and eight rebounds.
