BULACAN got back on track with a 63-54 win over the slumping Batangas Athletics on Tuesday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball Lague Datu Cup at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in Malolos.
Coming off an 18-point loss to the Manila Stars, the Kuyas built a 49-40 lead over teh Athletics in the third quarter and then poured it all in the last five minutes to compound the misery of the MPBL Anta Rajah Cup champions.
A closing 10-2 salvo sealed the Kuyas' sixth win in eight outings, while dragging the Athletics to their fourth straight loss and a 2-5 card.
Hans Thiele scored 11 and Stephen Siruma added 10 for the Kuyas.
Jay-R Taganas Taganas had 17 rebounds while Jerick Canada issued 13 assists.
Lester Alvarez and Moncrief Rogado combined for 26 points for the Athletics.
Basilan Steel rode on Dennis Daa's 25 points to down the Caloocan Supremos, 92-84, and raise their record to 3-4.
Dennis Daa and Hafer Mondragon pulled down nine rebounds each as the Steel posted a 50-33 advantage off the boards that weighed heavily on the Supremos'fifth loss in seven starts.
The Supremos drew 22 points from Jess Mar Villahermosa and 12 from Paul Sanga, but their bench was outscored by their Steel counterparts, 31-19.
