IGNITE coach Brian Shaw welcomes the opportunity to finally expose some of the top high school bets to high-level competition with the NBA G League set to stage its own bubble in February.
"We’re excited to be a part of the G League schedule at Disney," he said.
"This is a unique opportunity for our players to showcase their development while gaining a high volume of experience quickly against the caliber of talent they’ll face every day in the NBA."
Ignite, featuring former Ateneo Blue Eaglet Kai Sotto, will be one of the 18 teams entering the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort as the select team get a taste of elite competition.
The top eight teams advance to a single elimination playoff.
Also part of team Ignite are young guns Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga, Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix, and Princepal Singh, as well as NBA G League veterans Amir Johnson, Reggie Hearn, Brandon Ashley, Cody Demps and Bobby Brown.
The team has been training since August and have went to four scrimmages in preparation for the season.
Last year the league said Ignite "is dedicated to developing the world’s top young players through a one-year program focused on NBA Draft readiness along with the development and growth of professional life skills."
