BRADWYN Guinto notched a double-double as San Sebastian defeated UAAP champion National University, 57-56, on Tuesday at the start of the 1st Philippine-Australia Goodwill Basketball Invitational at the Philsports Arena.
Guinto had 18 points and 12 rebounds, including a jump shot with 1:13 left in the fourth that put the Stags up, 57-53, with 1:13 left.
Alfred Aroga completed a three-point play to move the Bulldogs to within a point, but Jeff Javillonar missed a potential game-winning jumper with 1.4 seconds left in the fourth.
“Maganda ito para sa amin. It’s a good challenge sa kanila kasi mga seasoned na ’yung mga kalaban namin dito katulad ng NU na UAAP champion,” said San Sebastian coach Rodney Santos.
Aroga led the way for the Bulldogs with 13 points.
Ateneo and Arellano and teams from Perth and Sydney are also seeing action in the event.
