    Bombers finally nail first win in preseason meet

    JOSE RIZAL University claimed its first win in the 2013 Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup with an 87-75 victory over College of Saint Benilde on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

    The Heavy Bombers of head coach Vergel Meneses bounced back after trailing 12-25 at the end of the first period as the Blazers faltered with only nine points in the third.

    Jose Rizal improved its record to 1-2 in Group A tying Far Eastern University for fifth place in the team standings.

    Paolo Pontejos had 22 points for the Heavy Bombers, while Philip Paniamogan added 18 points and Philip Mabulac had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

    The Blazers remained winless after three games, bowing to undefeated teams Arellano and National University prior to their match against the Heavy Bombers.

    In juniors action, Ateneo downed Mapua 82-67, while La Salle defeated Centro Escolar University in women's play, 63-51.
