IT has been three years since he left La Salle, yet San Beda guard Robert Bolick still wanted to prove a point when he faced his former team in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup.
Bolick also made sure his message got across on Sunday night.
Bolick fired 27 points, including timely baskets down the stretch, to go with nine rebounds and six assists to help San Beda score a thrilling 82-80 win over the UAAP champions at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
"Siyempre, kahit sino naman (gustong bumawi). Nawala talaga kumpyansa ko nun," said Bolick, who transferred to San Beda after two seasons with La Salle spent mostly on the Green Archers' bench.
"Malaking pasasalamat ko sa San Beda. Lahat ng narating ko, dahil sa kanila to, sila nagpapagaling sa akin. Pero syempre para sa akin, gusto ko patunayan na nagkamali sila na pinaalis ako," he added.
More than the personal statement, Bolick said the reigning NCAA champions also wanted to prove they are the best team in the tournament.
"As a team, gusto namin i-prove na kami pinakamalakas," said the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup MVP after the Red Lions rolled to their third straigh victory.
San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez lauded the prized guard suring the post-game interview.
"Credit to this guy, he stepped up tonight. He wanted to prove something," Fernandez said. "That’s the game of Robert, penetration and making his teammates look good.
"Hopefully, he will continue to guide this team."
