BAGUIO CITY — The BEST Center SBP-Passerelle Twin Tournament sponsored by MILO is now in full swing at the Easter College Gym here.
Four teams each from the SBP (Small Basketeers of the Philippines) division and the Passerelle division are currently battling for a spot in the championship game set on Sunday afternoon.
La Salle Greenhills, Ateneo de Iloilo, Ateneo de Davao, and Berkeley School Baguio are entered in the SBP finals after hurdling the National Capital Region, Visayas, Mindanao, and Luzon regionals.
In the Passerelle, Adamson, Sun Yat Sen High School of Iloilo, Ateneo de Davao, and Holy Angel University are competing in the single round-robin format tournament.
MILO Sports executive Robbie De Vera said he is confident some of the future stars of Philippine basketball will again emerge from this year's batch of players.
“This is a special opportunity for you. We hope that with this opportunity, you will be able to maximize it by displaying the skills that you’ve practiced hard for,” said De Vera in his speech during the opening ceremony.
"We will probably see each other in the higher leagues in the country, and hopefully, in the national team," De Vera added.

La Salle’s Andrei Caracut, a BEST Center alumnus, was one of the guests in the opening ceremony where he gave an inspirational message to the kids.
“Enjoy niyo lang ‘yung ginagawa niyo, hindi lang sa basketball kundi sa lahat bagay,” said Caracut. “’Yung disiplina talaga, sa BEST ko nakuha ‘yun. Kung hindi dahil sa BEST, wala akon ngayon dito."
