FAR Eastern University took home third-place honors in the 2018 Chooks-to-Go Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup with a 78-58 rout of St. Benilde on Saturday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Tamaraws laid waste to the Blazers early on, running away in the second quarter to establish a 32-24 halftime lead before going on to take 20-point leads numerous times in the second half.
Ken Tuffin paced FEU with nine points, two rebounds, and two assists, while Joseph Nunag also got nine points in the win.
Arvin Tolentino chipped in eight points, all coming in the first half, as Axel Iñigo tallied seven points and six boards.
Tamaraws coach Olsen Racela took advantage of the battle for bronze to give his seldom-used players a chance to hit the court as they prepare for the upcoming UAAP season.
The Blazers also rested their key guys, Justin Gutang and Clement Leutcheu, for the tiff.
Kendrix Belgica paced St. Benilde with 12 points and five rebounds, while Rob Nayve capitalized on the opportunity to post 12 points, seven boards, and two assists.
