MARIVELES National High School Poblacion and the Nuestra Senora Del Carmen Institute earned the right to represent Region 3 in the SBP U16 3x3 Pambansang Tatluhan National Finals.
The team from Bataan beat Malolos City in the finals to top the boys’ division. Boss Angeles City and Tarlac's CCAHS-Patriots Gerona finished second and third runners-up, respectively.
Meanwhile, the entry from Bulacan emerged champion in the girls’ division, beating Olongapo for the title. Second and third runner-up meanwhile, were Malolos City and Guimba, Nueva Ecija, respectively.
The champions will now battle the other regional winners in the national finals slated for August 10 and 11 at SM City North Edsa The Block
TNT superstar Jayson Castro, Asia's two-time best point guard, attended the finals held at the Don Honorio Ventura State University in Bacolor, Pampanga.
Castro joined Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) director for Region 3 Gil Cortez - the first-ever PBA Rookie of the Year winner - and SBP marketing head Ms. Anton Gonzales during the awarding ceremony.
Various provinces, cities, and municipalities within Region 3 held their respective qualifiers, with the top teams representing their respective areas during the regional finals in Pampanga, considered one of the basketball hotbeds in the country.
The U16 3x3 Pambansang Tatluhan is one of several grassroots programs of SBP.
