MAKE it two straight victories for Balanga as it won the second leg of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 MelMac Cup Season 2 after a 21-10 victory over newcomer HUP Tondo on Friday at Gold's Gym Sheridan.
Karl Dehesa led the mauling for the Pure with eight points as the second-ranked 3x3 team toyed with the surprise finalists on the way to the championship.
Chris de Chavez buried the game-sealing deuce from the right corner with 3:35 remaining as Balanga continued to dominate the second season of this tourney presented by Gold's Gym and Coca-Cola.
He wound up with four points.
World No. 130 Alvin Pasaol scored five points while Santi Santillan completed the mauling with four as Balanga took home the P100,000 cash prize.
"Bagong kalaban, bagong strategy kasi hindi pa namin sila nakalaban before eh. Kaya kinailangan namin ng hot start para mas gumaan laro namin," said Pasaol, the second-ranked 3x3 player in the country.
The championship match was in stark contrast to the road Balanga took to make it there, escaping rival Pasig in the semifinals, 21-17.
Upstart HUP Tondo took home P30,000 for its bridesmaid finish, while Mindoro Tamaraws 7A claimed third place which comes with a P20,000 prize.
Ever Bilena also escaped a gallant challenge from Blackwater to take the 22-20 escape in the women's division.
The third leg is slated on Saturday, still at Gold's Gym Sheridan.
