WILKINS Balanga and Phenom Basilan are set to see action in the Hongxiang Holdings Haining Challenger in China this weekend.
The two squads, among the top three Filipino teams in the ongoing Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 Patriot's Cup, have been granted wild card seeds as they try to advance to the 2019 Fiba World Tour Montreal Masters from September 7 to 8.
World No. 143 Alvin Pasaol will banner Balanga Chooks in the campaign where he'll once again pair with Karl Dehesa, Chris de Chavez, and American reinforcement Travis Franklin.
This will be a chance for Balanga Chooks to redeem itself following a forgettable run in the Tinkoff Moscow Challenger earlier in the month. But it wil be up against world No. 2 Liman of Serbia and world No. 30 Sosnovy Bor of Russia in Pool A.
Meanwhile, this will be the first Challenger experience for Isabela Chooks, with Basilan finishing as bridesmaids in the first two legs of the Patriot's Cup.
Roosevelt Adams, ranked 17th in the Philippines, will banner Basilan as he'll join forces with fellow Fil-Am Franky Johnson, MPBL MVP Gab Banal, and American import Marcus Hammonds.
Isabela Chooks will have to go through the qualifying draw first against Mongolian teams Sukhbaatar and Taikhar in Pool C. Awaiting the group's top seed will be Russian squads Gagarin and world No. 21 Moscow Inanomo.
