Bacoor Strikers gift Leo Isaac with a win in MPBL coaching debut

Isaac wins coaching denut with Bacoor; Cebu strikes again

ANTIPOLO — Leo Isaac didn’t waste any time leaving his mark for the Bacoor Strikers.

Taking over as head coach of the Strikers 24 hours before the team’s game against Rizal, Isaac led the team past Rizal, 74-63, in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Ynares Center.

Gab Banal finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and eight assists to power the Strikers to their third straight win and improve the team’s record to 7-4.

“Bunot-bunot lang ginawa ko kasi hindi ko pa masyadong kilala players eh, lahat sinusubukan ko,” said Isaac, who took over the reins from Budds Reyes.

With Reyes out, his son, Mikee Reyes, the premier point guard of the Strikers, missed the team’s practice presided over by Isaac then failed to show up for Tuesday night's game.

Cavite Rep. Strike Revilla, one of the managing partners of the team, said they are now entertaining thoughts of heeding the player’s request for a trade.

Earlier, Cebu nipped Valenzuela, 78-75, to improve to 3-8.

Patrick Cabahug scored 13 points to lead the Sharks to their first back-to-back wins.
