ARELLANO University and Lyceum University of the Philippines disposed separate foes to cop their first win in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.
AU defeated San Sebastian College, 68-61, behind the heroics of Michael Canete, Levi dela Cruz and Anton Concepcion.
Canete finished with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while dela Cruz and Concepcion each had nine markers for the Chiefs, who evened their record (1-1).
Arjohn dela Cruz made 17 points for SSC (0-1).
Meanwhile, Casper Pericas’ near double-double effort led LPU's romp over Jose Rizal University, 90-69.
Pericas scored 16 points, grabbed six boards and dished out nine assists the Pirates, who started their campaign on a high note.
Yancy Remulla also had 15 markers, Spencer Pretta had 11, Jerwyn Guinto added 10 and Gabriel Mahinay contributed eight markers and 13 rebounds for LPU.
Jervy Ramos made 12 points for JRU (0-1).
