Oping Sumalinog and Nikko Salva led a quickfire start that carried Ateneo to a 65-58 triumph over the University of the Philippines on Sunday and a sweep of the 18th Fr. Martin Summer Cup eliminations.
Sumalinog, who had 14 points, and Salva struck hardest late in the first quarter, enabling the Blue Eagles to take command and complete a seven-game sweep of Group A at the St. Placid gymnasium inside San Beda's Manila campus.
The Blue Eagles take on the Perpetual Help Altas in their quarterfinal assignment on Tuesday.
The San Beda Red Cubs, starring Jayvee Nocom (23 points) and Axel Inigo (16), blasted the La Salle-Zobel Junior Archers, 96-55, and went to the semifinal round with a spotless 7-0 record in Group A.
