University of the East, Jose Rizal University and Adamson reached the semifinals of the 18th Fr. Martin Summer Cup basketball tournament after a day of upsets.
The Warriors, made up mostly of team B players, banked on clutch baskets by John Carlo Duncil and a free throw from Chris Javier to frustrate La Salle, 64-63, at the St. Placid gymnasium inside San Beda's Mendiola campus.
The Falcons booted out Far Eastern University, 52-51, while the JRU Bombers leaned on the penetrations of rookie Michael Mabulac in the closing minute to stun the Letran Knights, 89-79.
Joining the three in the Final Four was Ateneo, the only favorite to evade the upset ax when it demolished the Perpetual Help Altas, 81-61, behind Justine Chua's 14 points and Oping Sumalinog's 12.
