NINE clubs from five countries see action in four age divisions in the 25th Asean Veterans Basketball Championships slated Aug. 21 to 27 in two venues.
Filipino-Chinese Veterans Basketball Association (FCVBA) is hosting the tournament that also features Hatyai of Thailand, Hornbill of Sarawak, Malaysia, Miri Kinsar of Malaysia, Brunei, Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, ZAAP Bangkok, Thailand, Meteor Pontianak of Indonesia and ASABA of Indonesia.
Games will be held at Chiang Kai Shek College gym and the YMCA gym.
On tap are competitions in 40-years and above divison, 50-years and above, 60-years and above and 65-years above.
FCVA is looking to score another sweep after it won all three division titles last year in Sarawak, Malaysia.
Preparations are underway as FCVBA officials, led by its chairman Jimi Lim and president Lucio “Bong” Tan, intend to make the week-long stay of the participants a memorable one. The event is sponsored by Philippine Airlines, Freego Jeans, Rain or Shine and Ironcon Builders with Molten as official ball.
“We are leaving no stone unturned to make this year’s event a big success,” said Lim.
