ARVIN Tolentino started off his new chapter in Korea on a high, helping the Seoul SK Knights get back at Changwon LG Sakers, 89-81, in overtime to open the Korean Basketball League (KBL) season on Friday at Changwon Gymnasium.
The Filipino forward unfurled 16 points on 2-of-4 shooting from deep, on top of three rebounds and two assists as the Knights emerged triumphant in this rematch of last year's championship series.
Tolentino's first dip of action was the perfect complement for Jameel Warney's 27-point, 13-rebound night as Kim Nak-hyeon also collected 20 points, seven assists, and six boards.
Carl Tamayo was held to just seven points, 10 rebounds, and three assists for a tough opener for the defending champions.
Assem Marei led Changwon with 19 points and 12 rebounds in the losing cause.
Navarro victorious in KBL debut as well
William Navarro also earned his first win for Busan KCC Egis in their 89-82 victory over Seoul Samsung Thunders at Jamsil Indoor Stadium.
He only logged three minutes in the game as Heo Ung paced their side with 29 points, five boards, and five assists.
Justin Gutang nabbed five points for the Thunders in the defeat.
Ethan Alvano also.powered Wonju DB Promy to a 71-68 squeaker over Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus at Dongcheon Gymnasium.
The former KBL MVP fired 18 points and six assists to help Wonju get to a flying start.
Migs Oczon produced 12 points and three rebounds in the Ulsan loss.
