ALFRED Aroga had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Joshua Alolino scored 19 as National University remained unbeaten after outplaying University of the Philippines, 92-76, on Monday in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at San Juan Arena.

Troy Rosario scored 17 points and Glenn Khobuntin grabbed 11 rebounds as the Bulldogs notched their third win.

Only Centro Escolar University (4-0) has a better record in Group C than the Bulldogs, who began to pull away in the second period with a 9-0 run en route to a 43-32 lead.

“We slowed them down by forcing them to play a halfcourt game. We also made sure we take advantage inside,” NU coach Eric Altamirano said.

Even with the victory already in the bag, Altamirano sent in his starters in the final moments of the game.

“We need to learn how to finish strong in the UAAP. You have to play hard and strong in the last five minutes,” said Altamirano.

Dave Moralde and Diego Dario each had 16 points for the Maroons (1-4).

    The scores:

    NU (92) – Alolino 19, Aroga 19, Rosario 17, Khobuntin 8, Diputado 8, Alejandro 6, Salim 4, Javelona 4, Atangan 3, Tansingco 2, Celda 1, Yu 1, Neypes 0, Perez 0.

    UP (76) – Moralde 16, Dario 16, Lao 15, Gallarza 13, Juruena 5, Vito 5, Asilum 4, Harris 2, Gingerich 0, Romero 0.
