BIG man Arnold Van Opstal was cut from the Seaba team but will be inserted in the Gilas cadet lineup for the 2015 Southeast Asian Games in Singapore, a person with knowledge of the situation told Spin.ph.

The source, who refused to be named, said the La Salle star is going to be part of the team that will try to retain the men’s basketball gold in the biennial meet, taking over the spot of Far Eastern University’s Russell Escoto.

Van Opstal wasn’t included in the final cut of Gilas cadet’s roster for the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (Seaba) Championship set April 27-May 1 in Singapore along with La Salle teammates Jeron Teng and Prince Rivero.

Teng, however, is likewise not expected to make the SEA Games team following Van Opstal’s impending entry.

Baser Amer of San Beda and Thirdy Ravena of Ateneo also didn’t make it to the national teams bound for both the Seaba and SEA Games.
