ARELLANO and St. Clare College defeated its National University opponents to arrange a finals for the 25-under title of the Milcu Sports Basketball Hard To Guard 25-under tournament at the Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym on Wednesday.
The Chiefs defeated NU-B, 91-77, while the Saints won over NU-A, 64-62, to move into the championship game set to take place this weekend.
Devin Dela Cruz had 26 points, while Michael Canete added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Chiefs in the the semifinal outing.
Chami Diputado had 14 points for the Bulldogs-B.
Chris Bitoon had 22 points, while Aris Dionisio had 14 points for the Saints, who also prevented an NU team from making it to the championship game.
John Lloyd Clemente finished with 11 points for NU-A, while Matthew Aquino added nine points and nine rebounds. NU rookie Dave Ildefonso had seven points, four rebounds, and three steals, while Shaun Ildefonso also had seven points.
St. Clare was down four when Bitoon tied the match at 58. Dionisio scored the go-ahead basket as Bitoon made it a three-point game with a lay-up, 64-61.
The tournament is organized by Got Skills and sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas. It is also supported by Basketball TV, Clyde Shoe Cleaner, Gerry’s Grill, Coach Athletics Tape, LGR, FMR, Gatorade, and Rain or Shine.
