THE Arellano University Chiefs and Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers carved out big wins in the 10th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup at the St. Placid gymnasium of the San Beda College-Mendiola campus in Manila.
The Chiefs got big baskets from Keith Agovida and Giovanni Jalalon to repulse San Sebastian-B, 101-59, for their second consecutive win in Group B.
The Heavy Bombers, led by Paolo Pontejos, tripped Ateneo, 95-83.
Agovida and Jalalon unloaded 19 points for the Chiefs, who followed up an earlier 93-88 beating of the University of the East Warriors in Group B.
The Heavy Bombers, with Pontejos banging in 20 points, picked up their first win after losing to the Informatics Icons, 79-77, in their opening match the other week.
Action resumes at the Technological Institute of the Philippines on Saturday and the San Beda College-Mendiola campus on Sunday, with Robert de la Rosa replacing the late Joey Lim as the tournament’s secretary-general.
In the junior division, Clint Doliguez fired 13 points for Hope Christian as it demolished EAC-ICA, and UE won over San Sebastian, 69-49.
The Letran Squires, with John Alacre making 23 points, downed the Adamson Junior Falcons, 65-47.
