THE coach of the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters is taking a cautious approach regarding the health of their Filipino import, Rhenz Abando, whose back injury remains a day-to-day concern as the team resumes it Korean Basketball League campaign this week.
Anyang coach Kim Hang Shik said Abando may have aggravated his injury after the Filipino fell awkwardly during a KBL game against Goyang Sono last December.

Apparently still feeling unwell, Abando skipped the third place EASL game with the New Taipei Kings last Sunday which his team won.
“After the first game (of the Final Four), he felt the pain in the same back area, and I think it got a little worse,” said Kim through an interpreter. “That’s the reason why he didn’t play.”
Abando, however, was still able to play in the KBL before the team flew to Lapu-Lapu City for the EASL. He then played in the EASL Final Four game against Seoul SK Knights.
The Red Boosters resume their KBL campaign against Goyang on Wednesday, which is why the team left for Korea just hours after they ended their EASL tilt.
Kim reiterated that Abando’s health is the team's priority.

“We will keep an eye on (him) from now on," the coach said. But at the same time, he added "I can’t assure that he is going to play the next game,”
Anyang is currently in ninth place in the 10-team Korean league, and is in danger of missing the playoffs after winning the championship last season.
