MANDALUYONG defeated 102-91 over Bulacan on Monday to arrest a seven-game skid in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Antonio Bonsubre posted a double-double while four other players ended up in double figures as El Tigre notched their first win in nearly two months.
Bonsubre came away with 16 points and 10 rebounds as the El Tigre improved their win-loss record to 7-8.
Jeff Javillonar added 15 markers, while Gian Abrigo chipped in 12. JV Orera had his best game since transferring to the Tigers, scoring 11, the same output tallied by Janus Lozada, as Mandaluyong got back on the winning track since last winning their game on Sept. 5 against the Parañaque Patriots, 77-75.
Meanwhile, Makati extended its winning streak to six with a 79-57 win over Caloocan.
The Super Crunch were active on the defensive end just as expected as they grounded the Supermos’ top gun Almond Vosotros.
A former Gilas cadet, Vosotros struggled for 13 points on a miserable 2-of-9 shooting from the field. With his production cut short, Caloocan had to bleed for every basket and the Supremos shot only 31-percent shooting from the field (19-of-60), including a miserable shooting from beyond the arc — 8-percent (2-of-24).
Caloocan its fourth straight loss and slipped to 4-12 card, staying at 12th spot in the northern division.
Makati picked up its 12th win in 16 games and solidify its hold of fourth spot.
