ATENEO scored a 59-51 win over Jose Rizal University in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup on Monday in San Juan.

Anton Asistio was the lone Blue Eagle to finish in double figures with 17 points, including three free throws in the final three minutes to give the team a 57-48 buffer.

The Blue Eagles held on from there on the way to a 4-2 win-loss record that kept their quarterfinal hopes alive.

"We fought through. It wasn't indicative of the way we need to play. Another learning experience but we're happy we got a win," said Ateneo coach Tab Baldwin.

Darius Estrella paced the Heavy Bombers with 14 points, Ervin Grospe scored 11 and Teytey Teodoro added 10.

JRU also remains in the hunt for a berth in the next round with a 5-2 record.
