ALVIN Pasaol canned the game-winning charities as the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 All-Stars knocked off Indonesia, 21-17 in the Finals and completed a perfect romp in the Jakarta 3x3 International Invitational Challenge 2019 Saturday.
The Davaoeño super scorer cooly sank his pair of freebies with 2:58 left to finish a tightly contested championship round and left a rambunctious crowd at CGV Sports Hall in fX Sudirman silenced.
Pasaol finished with 10 points as he took full advantage of Indonesia already finding itself in penalty late.
It was a repeat of the Filipinos' 21-13 win over the hosts in the eliminations of the five-team tourney. They went unbeaten with a 4-0 record to earn the spot in the Finals.
World no. 40 Chinese Taipei was Chooks-to-Go 3x3 All-Stars' first victim with a 21-9 mauling, before stamping its class against SEA Games-bound squads Malaysia (21-17), Indonesia, and Vietnam (19-14).
Joshua Munzon added seven points in the championship round, Santi Santillan got three, and Troy Rike scored one in what served as the Philippines' early preparations for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) in March 2020.
"Unang-una, inaalay natin ito sa ating mga kababayan. It's for them," said Chooks-to-Go 3x3 program director Eric Altamirano as four of the top five 3x3 players in the country were tested after playing five games in four hours.
"Secondly, we are preparing for the OQT. This is a good tournament for us to start and I'm really proud of the boys."
