JUST like old times, former Far Eastern University teammates Allana Lim and Raiza Palmera-Dy won individual awards in the WNBL Season 2021, this time while playing for different teams.
The former UAAP women’s basketball stars cornered the major awards for the season, with Lim bagging the MVP award thanks to her impressive campaign with the Paranaque Lady Aces.
Rookie of the Year
Palmera-Dy, the top star of the Glutagence Glow Boosters, was named the Rookie of the Year during the awarding rites held before Game Two of the WNBL finals between the Lady Aces and the Lady Generals.
Joining Lim and Palmera-Dy in the Mythical Five are Jhenn Angeles of Paranaque, Janeth Sison of Taguig, and Kath Araja of Quezon.
Chicky Faraon won the Defensive Player of the Year honor while Karla Manuel was handed the Sportsmanship Award.
The award came 10 years after Palmera-Dy and Lim started bagging individual awards for FEU during the school’s heyday in the UAAP.
Palmera-Dy and Lim took turns in winning the MVP in 2011 and 2012 during the Lady Tamaraws’ run to back-to-back championships.
During the year that Palmera-Dy won the season MVP award, Lim also captured the Finals MVP honor in 2011 after the victory over Adamson.
The Lady Tamaraws retained the title by beating De La Salle after a 16-0 sweep of the season.
