    Alaska beats Talk N Text for second win in as many nights in Cebu pocket tournament

    ALASKA downed Talk ’N Text, 79-70, Saturday night for its second win in as many games in the 2014 Cebu City Charter Day Cup at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex in Mandaue City.

    Meanwhile, GlobalPort bounced back from its opening day loss to Alaska by edging Mindanao-based Tagoloan Tigers, 81-73.

    Power forward Kelly Nabong had 13 points to lead the Batang Pier, who are still adjusting to the system of new head coach Pido Jarencio and newly-acquired point guard Alex Cabagnot.

    Justin Chua had 12 while Terrence Romeo fired in all 11 of his points in the first half for GlobalPort.

    Former PBL player Ian Saladaga paced the Tigers with 16 markers, while Ferdinand Lusdoc chipped in 12. University of the Visayas stalwarts Jean Marie Mpouma and Wowie Escosio combined for 21.

    Last season’s Best Import Rob Dozier topscored for the Aces with 17 points, local hero Dondon Hontiveros and crowd favorite Calvin Abueva contributed 12 points apiece, while JVee Casio added 10.

    Talk N Text got another impressive showing from import Richard Howell who had 16, while Ranidel de Ocampo logged in 14. However, no other Texter reached double figures in scoring.
