PHENOM Blue Fire continued to live up to their flaming hot name.
This, after they carved out a lopsided 89-72 victory in the NBTC division one semifinals against UAAP kings University of Santo Tomas Friday at Mall of Asia Arena.
Historically, the Pasay-based squad is the first team from the wildcard round to enter the finals round.
For NBTC top-ranked player Kieffer Alas, they are seeing the win as a chance to carve out even more history.
“We already made history so we’re gonna try to make new history on Sunday,” Alas said after finishing with 20 markers laced with seven boards in the win.

They can do just that by becoming the first wildcard team to go all the way in the annual basketball festivities for high school players.
In doing so, Alas, together with teammate Bonn Daja, will also do something that they haven’t done with their mother teams in De La Salle Zobel for two consecutive years – make a deep run in the tournament.

“Mapanalo lang talaga namin and maging champion as a team, ayun ‘yung goal namin,” Daja, who dished out a double-double outing of 21 points and 13 boards expressed.
“I’m super determined, we’re just gonna do our best to bring one for Phenom,” Alas remarked.
Phenom Blue Fire is set for a duel against defending champion Fil-Am Nation Select on Sunday, for the Division 1 championship.
