AJ Gloriani hit the biggest basket of Game Two.

PARAÑAQUE pulled off a nail-biting 83-76 win over Taguig in Game Two to complete its unbeaten run to the championship in the Pia Cayetano WNBL Season 2021 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.

AJ Gloriani hit a three-pointer and got a foul with 38.9 seconds left, with Clare Castro picking up the loose ball off the free throw miss and scoring on a followup to give the Lady Aces a 81-76 lead against a determined Lady Generals side.

    Perfect season

Gloriani finished with 12 points, with the former La Salle standout’s three-pointer the backbreaker for Paranaque.

The dramatic win was actually the closest any team got to beating the Lady Aces, who steamrolled in the elimination round with an 8-0 win-loss record. Pampanga swept Quezon in the semifinals before facing Taguig.

Allana Lim had 30 points and nine rebounds on the same day she won the MVP for the 2021 season. Jhenn Angeles poured in 14 points, while Castro had 14 points, none bigger than the putback she converted late in the game.

Marichu Bacaro, the 2008 UAAP MVP, turned back the hands of time with 23 points but her efforts were not enough as the Lady Generals settled for second place.
