AJ Edu continued to turn heads with his stellar play, this time climbing the ranks on another list of top prospects in England’s high school basketball scene.
The SGS College in Bristol's Fil-Nigerian standout has been dominating the competition in leading the Elite Academy Basketball League in points, rebounds and blocks, which has led him to be ranked third among Hoop Rank UK’s list of top high school prospects.
The 17-year-old validated his status as one of UK’s elite high school players after cracking the Top Five in the rankings of Deng Camp members, a training camp put up by NBA veteran Luol Deng.
The 6-foot-10 teen entered the Top Five for the first time after putting up 22.4 points on 53.4 percent shooting, 15.8 rebounds, 3.4 blocks and a 33 efficiency rating in five EABL games so far. He’s also the only player in the Top 5 who’s not playing in the UK’s National Basketball League Division 1.
Holding on to the top spot of the Deng Camp list is forward Michael Anunba, who’s posting 14.1 points on 47 percent shooting, 5.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists for the NBL Division 1-leading Manchester Magic. Another Division 1 wing in Barking Abbey & Kent Crusaders star Caleb Fuller (14.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists) also stayed put at no.2.
NBL Division 1 team Charnwood College guard Sesan Russell overtook teammate Hosana Kitenge for the third spot.
