AS Jack Animam prepares to see action in the Taiwan women's league, her National University and Gilas Pilipinas Women senior Afril Bernardino only hopes nothing but the best for the Bulakenya center.

"Alam ko excited ka na rin pumunta doon. Pag may dumating na challenges sa buhay mo doon, lakasan mo lang yung loob mo and alam kong kayang kaya mo yung trainings doon," the three-time UAAP MVP told Animam on So She Did.

Animam has signed as an import for Shih Hsin University in Taiwan in the University Basketball Association (UBA).

The 6-foot-2 Animam will head overseas later this month.

Bernardino, the 5-foot-8 Gilas women guard, played for Hatchers Valkyries in the Malaysian Women's Basketball League (MWBL) in 2018, and has no doubt Animam will be able to get through the challenges of staying abroad.

"Noong una, syempre feeling ko excited ako kasi may mga bago akong matututunan. Pero may kasamang hirap at lungkot pa rin kasi nandoon ka na mag-isa," she said.

"Pero habang tumatagal naman, mage-enjoy ka rin. Wala ka namang kayang gawin kung hindi lakasan lang yung loob mo and tanggapin lahat ng challenges na darating sa 'yo."

Bernardino is confident that Animam is ready for those challenges.

"Magaling ka rin naman makipag-communicate sa mga tao and masayahin kang tao, so siguro hindi ka naman malulungkot doon. Tsaka naka-suporta lang kami dito at isang tawag mo lang, sasagot agad kami," she said.

Bernardino is also happy that another Filipina will get a chance to play in an overseas league, following the footsteps of Allana Lim, Andrea Tongco, Gemma Miranda and Chack Cabinbin.

"Sobrang proud ako sa kanya and happy kasi isa siya sa nagre-represent ng Philippines," she said. "Syempre for long term din naman yung ipupunta niya doon so I’m happy for her and yung mga na-achieve (ni Jack) sa career niya."
