ARMED Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) dispute the No. 1 seeding while the Senate and Department of Justice try to complete the semis cast in the UNTV Cup Executive Face-Off over the weekend at the Pasig City Sports Center.
Coming off impressive wins that gave them similar 3-1 cards, AFP and PNP clash at 5.pm. on Saturday, which is expected to be a close call since the No. 1 seed will be up for grabs in the event designed by UNTV president and CEO Daniel Razon for the public servants.
The Responders got back on the winning track with an 88-82 win over the DOJ Boosters, thanks toAnthony Padua and Dexter Vitug. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, rode the hot-shooting of Army Coronel Oliver Vesliño, Gen. Mel Feliciano, Col. William Gonzales, and Gen. Gener del Rosario to beat the Judiciary Magis, 82-68.
The DOJ Boosters, however, can make it to the semis if they beat the still winless Bureau of Customs Transformers in their 2 p.m. showdown.
Equally important is the 3:30 match between the streaking Senate Sentinels and the Magis.
DOJ, Senate and Judiciary are tied for third to fifth places at 2-2, making tomorrow’s matches a must-win for the three of them.
The Sentinels – starring Senators Joel Villanueva and Sonny Angara, along with Lino Ong and WarrenTan – are looking to notch their third straight win since dropping their first two games.
