ADAMSON zoomed to the top of Group B in the Filoil Flying V Premier Preseason Cup after toppling Mapua, 74-66 on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.
Simon Camacho drained the timely baskets while his teammates took care of defense as the Falcons improved to 3-0 (win-loss) in the preseason tournament.
With their lead down to one following back-to-back three pointers from Cedric Pelayo and Exie Biteng, the Falcons went to Camacho and the high flying big man responded.
Camacho's three-point play with 2:34 to go gave the Falcons some breathing room and the Cardinals failed to come up with a response.
Despite winning, Adamson coach Franz Pumaren remained unhappy over his players' inconsistencies.
"We were lucky to win this game. We had too many mental mistakes here," said Pumaren.
"We have to look at the big picture. If we want to succeed, not only here but in the UAAP, we have to play consistent basketball for 40 minutes," he added.
Camacho scored 15 points, grabbed nine boards and added two blocks to his line. Jerrick Ahanmisi added 13 points, while Robbie Manalang and Tyrus Hill had 11 apiece.
Veteran guard Andoy Estrella paced Mapua with 16 while Biteng had 14 for the Cardinals, who dropped to 0-2.
