Adamson secures berth in Martin Cup quarterfinals

CAMEROONIAN Ingrid Sewa led the way as Adamson whipped College of St. Benilde-A, 76-54, recently to remain unbeaten in the 9th Fr. Martin Cup Collegiate Open basketball tournament at the Trinity University of Asia gym.

The 6-foot-10 Sewa scored 22 points for the Falcons, who are one win away from a six-game sweep of Group B. They are now assured of one of two quarterfinal slots with the Arellano University Chiefs (5-1).

Group A squads Letran (5-1) and the defending champion San Beda (4-1) have earlier earned places in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Joseph Marquez tallied 24 points as Informatics beat the Perpetual Help-B Altas, 72-56.

Paolo Taha delivered 14 points as St. Benilde-B won over Lyceum, 58-49.

The Icons finished third in Group B with their 4-2 win-loss slate, and will meet the sixth placed Mapua Cardinals (1-5) on Sunday in the wildcard phase at 9 a.m.

Perpetual Help-A (4-2) battles UP (2-4) in the other wildcard encounter at 10:30 a.m.
