ADAMSON clinched the second seed in Group B of the 2019 Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup as it hacked out a 70-61 win over National University on Friday.
Congolese big man Lenda Douanga showed the way for the Soaring Falcons with 17 points and 24 rebounds, while Jerrick Ahanmisi bucked a poor 1-of-7 shooting from downtown to wound up with 11 points, all of which came from the first half.
Simon Camacho, Jerom Lastimosa, Khristian Bernardo, and rookie Joem Sabandal all had eight points apiece in the win.
Adamson used a strong third quarter assault, breaking away from a close 29-27 halftime affair to grab a commanding 52-40 lead.
Though NU tried to rally back, Douanga kept the Bulldogs at bay to lock up the no. 2 seed and finish the eliminations with a 5-2 card.
The Soaring Falcons now await their quarterfinal opponent between La Salle and San Sebastian.
Adamson's win also sent idle Letran (5-2) to no. 3 and secured that FEU (4-2), which will see action later in the day against JRU, at no. 4 in Group B.
Dave Ildefonso carried NU with 18 points, as Jonas Tibayan got 15.
