EXPECT added heat between the Abra Weavers and Hong Kong Eastern when they take the floor of the SM Seaside Cebu Arena in the opener day of the East Asia Super League (EASL) Home and Away Season 4 on Saturday night.
The two teams apparently had a heated exchange of words in practice after Hong Kong Eastern claimed it was already it’s time to use the venue while the Weavers were still practicing on court.
Alen Abaz, the Bosnian head coach of Hong Kong Eastern, according to sources, raised his voice about the Weavers eating up on the practice time of his team.
Apparently, the Weavers also experienced the same thing with the team that practiced ahead of them that they likewise decided to extend their preparation for about 10 minutes.
Hong Kong Eastern would have none of it despite Abra’s explanation that it also started practice late as the team before them likewise played extended time.
Abra officials referred to Hong Kong Eastern’s move as ‘confrontational’ over what they termed was just a matter of ‘miscommunication’ on practice schedule.
EASL officials later defused the tension by politely asking Eastern to leave the court for just a few minutes while Abra concludes its practice time.
