Patriots feeling empty as Warriors complete sweep

Jun 3, 2012

The Indonesia Warriors completed a sweep of the Philippine Patriots in their best-of-three semifinal series with a 72-51 victory in Game 2 Sunday in the Asean Basketball League at the Mahaka Square in Jakarta.

Ex-Patriot Steve Thomas had 19 points and 15 rebounds while Evan Brock recorded 16 and 11 as the Warriors advanced to the finals against either San Miguel Beermen or Westports Malaysia.

The Beermen and the Dragons square off in a third and deciding game on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Nakiea Miller had a measly 12 points and nine rebounds while Anthony Johnson came up with just 11 points for the Patriots, who shot a miserable four-for-29 from three-point range.

The Patriots were outscored by the Warriors, 16-6, in the second period as Indonesia took a 32-19 lead at the half and was never threatened.

Malaysia defeated San Miguel, 100-77, in Game 2 of the other semi, with Tiras Wade and Brian Williams combining for 60 points and Filipino import Patrick Cabahug adding 17 markers.
