SANTA ROSA, Laguna - San Miguel Alab Pilipinas once again suffered another injury setback when Rico Maierhofer rolled his left ankle in the second quarter of their game against CLS Knights Indonesia.
Maierhofer left the game limping after he landed awkwardly following a basket late in the second quarter of a 101-63 win over CLS Knights at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex.
The Alab big man was still limping when he emerged from the team’s dugout.
“Either tomorrow or Tuesday ‘yung check-up,” said Maierhofer.
It marked the third straight game that players from Alab suffered injuries. Josh Urbiztondo and Robby Celiz got hurt in their match against the Saigon Heat in Davao City, while Renaldo Balkman and Pao Javelona suffered ankle sprains on Wednesday against the CLS Knights.
Urbiztondo and Celis didn’t play on Sunday but Balkman and Javelona contributed to the victory that gave Alab a shot at earning an outright spot in the semifinals.
