JOSH Urbiztondo shot the lights out as San Miguel Alab Pilipinas outclassed the Zhuhai Wolf Warriors, 105-95, on Sunday in the first Asean Basketball League (ABL) game to be played in Cebu.
Urbiztondo hit six three-pointers on the way to finishing with 19 points before an animated crowd at the Hoops Dome in Lapu Lapu City as Alab stretched the best start in franchise history to 5-0 after a rousing debut to the year.
In all, Alab Pilipinas converted 16 treys to dominate Zhuhai, which continued to hug the cellar with a 1-9 slate.
Ethan Alvano also sizzled from the outside, scoring 21 points behind three three-pointers. The Alab starting guard also dished out seven assists in a game where Alab opened leads as big as 28 points.
Alab started to break away in the second period when Urbiztondo hit a four-point play as the lead swelled to double digits for the first time, 36-24.
Renaldo Balkman added 21 points and seven rebounds while Bobby Ray Parks Jr. added 12 points for the home side.
Chen Cai had 20 points, while Mike Bell added 20 points and 13 rebounds for Zhuhai, which also got 19 points from Mike Taylor. Former NBA player Eddy Curry had 14 points and eight rebounds in the game.
