SAN Miguel star guard Chris Banchero is expected to miss one to two weeks for the Beermen due to an injured thigh.
This was confirmed by San Miguel sports director Noli Eala on his Twitter account.
“Just got a report that @ChrisBanchero has a thigh injury. Could be out for 1-2 weeks depending on ultrasound result. Hoping for best,” said Eala on his Twitter account @NoliEala.
With the injury, Banchero could miss the Beermen’s Wednesday match-up against the Sports Rev Thailand Slammers in Bangkok as well as their Saturday home game against the Saigon Heat.
Banchero hurt his thigh after a collision with Malaysia big man Moala Tautuaa in the Beermen’s 80-62 win over the Dragons on Friday night at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Banchero, the team’s leading scorer averaging 16.4 points per game, actually struggled in their Friday game scoring five points on 2-of-11 shooting in 32 minutes of play although he did dish out six assists and four steals.
Asi Taulava picked up the scoring chores for the Beermen in Banchero’s struggles when the former PBA star pumped in 26 points.
Eala assured that Banchero’s injury will not extend to the playoffs where the Beermen will most likely occupy the top two spots.
