SANTA ROSA, Laguna — Players from the Formosa Dreamers hardly looked like losers on Sunday night.
The Asean Basketball League's cellar-dwelling team was dealt a 117-93 shellacking by San Miguel Alab Pilipinas but surprisingly, it's players got a warm reception from fans at the Santa Rosa Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
Alab players, most notably Justin Brownlee, were mobbed by home fans, but the visitors weren't lacking in admiers.
The three who got the most requests for selfies and groufies were Formosa import Ronnie Aguilar, Taiwanese-American Kenneth Chien and British-American Charles Barratt.
Aguilar got the most attention after the 7-foot-1 center, who had a brief stint with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA preseason, finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Chien, who can be easily mistaken for a Filipino, was also mobbed by fans even if he only played briefly in the one-sided contest. He finished with seven points.
Even Barratt, who scored three points in 14 minutes, got a lot of photo requests mostly from the ladies due to his good looks.
