THE San Miguel Beermen go for their third win when they take on the defending champion Indonesia Warriors on Friday in the Asean Basketball League at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Beermen (2-1) try to solidify hold on first place against the Warriors, who are also seeking to improve on their 3-2 win-loss card, in their return match since the opening day of the league. Game time is set at 5 p.m.
San Miguel, which is coming off a lopsided 100-74 victory over Saigon last week, seeks its second win against the reigning champions after winning the opener, 64-53, in Jakarta.
But the Warriors, who started the season with two straight losses, are on a high after a 69-57 win over Singapore on the road.
In their first encounter, the Warriors’ Richard Smith elbowed Asi Taulava during the final moments of the game.
The hit was caught on camera and Smith was fined by the league.
Taulava also called it a “cheap shot” and the Fil-Tongan later issued a warning to the Fil-American born in Subic.
“I’m the wrong guy to mess with,” Taulava said days after the incident. “He has that to sign out when he gets here. Good luck to him. Richard should learn to read between the lines.”
