THE Saigon Heat stunned Hong Kong Eastern in overtime, 121-115, on Tuesday night in the Asean Basketball League at the Southorn Stadium in Hong Kong.
Fil-American Michael Williams took charge as Saigon handed the Christian Standhardinger-led Hong Kong Eastern its first loss after seven straight wins to start the season.
Saigon hiked its record to 3-2 and has won two in a row..
Williams, a product of Cal State Fullerton, finished with 39 points including eight triples, none bigger than a three that broke a 113-113 deadlock. He also hit a deuce with 21 seconds left in the game for a five-point lead in the extra period.
The Heat also spoiled a big night for Standhardinger when he had 37 points and a season-high 19 rebounds. He, however, just made five out of his 17 free throws in the game.
Williams flirted with a double-double as he also dished out nine assists in the game.
Hong Kong also ost despite getting a triple-double from Marcus Elliott, who had 34 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
