Alab stretches win streak to three with huge win at Mono Vampire

RENALDO Balkman willed San Miguel Alab Pilipinas to a big 78-59 victory over Mono Vampire in the 2019 Asean Basketball League on Saturday at Stadium 29 in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

The Puerto Rican dynamo was an unstoppable force for the defending champions, dropping 31 points, six rebounds, four steals and two rebounds to stretch his side's winning streak to three.

Balkman was in full control for Alab in the game, stringing six straight points to end the first half, 40-33, after Mono closed in within one, 34-33 with a little over three minutes remaining in the second half.

The Philippine side used that spark as they broke the floodgates in the third quarter, firing 22 in the period as Balkman gave Alab a 17-point lead, 62-45 with a booming triple late in the frame.

PJ Ramos added 16 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists, as Bobby Ray Parks had nine points, six boards, five dimes and two steals.

Lawrence Domingo and Pao Javelona both scored eight in the win that kept Alab on top of the standings at 16-3.

San Miguel Alab Pilipinas swept its season series with Mono Vampire after its 110-100 overtime win last Jan. 20 in Sta. Rosa.

It also improved to a 5-3 win-loss record on the road.

The Thai side dropped to 5-14 after the finals rematch.

Malcolm White paced Mono Vampire with 17 points and eight rebounds, as Mike Singletary had 17 points, five boards and two assists.

Tyler Lamb also fired 13 points, eight rebounds and six rebounds for the home team.

Former PBA Best Import Romeo Travis missed the game for Mono Vampire due to a knee injury.
