ONE game was enough to prove their worth, and now Raymar Jose and Achie Inigo are signed to season-long contracts with Kaohsiung Truth in the Asean Basketball League.
Impressed with their performance in the first few days with the squad, the Truth will have Jose and Inigo throughout the ABL season as they look to put up a fine showing in their inaugural year in the regional basketball league.
“I love them both,” said Kaohsiung Truth coach Tryston Lawrence. They’ll be here unless they don’t want to be here. I hope they do. We signed them for the whole year.”
The club did not provide details of the contract.
The two former Far Eastern University Tamaraws did well on Sunday night against Alab Pilipinas although the Truth suffered another loss, their fourth in as many games.
Jose, part of the UAAP Season 79 Mythical Five, scored 12 points and had seven rebounds in his debut with Truth before fouling out midway through the fourth period.
“He is a ball of energy,” said Lawrence of Jose. “It hurt us because he was in foul trouble. I wish he could have been on the floor more.”
Inigo had eight assists, and Lawrence hopes to see more of the guard’s offensive skills in the coming games.
“Achie is a floor general. He gets into our offense. I like to see a little bit more aggressiveness because he has an ability on offense. I like him to show it more. But that will come when he becomes more comfortable,” said Lawrence.
The 93-87 loss to Alab Pilipinas on Sunday was the Truth’s last game of 2016 before the holiday break, which the truth hopes to use to build chemistry.
“Hopefully, in the next two to three weeks that we have a time off and we can get together, I think you’ll see how good they will be for us,” said Lawrence.
