SAN Miguel Alab Pilipinas returned to its winning ways on Friday night, defeating Hong Kong Eastern, 87-75, in the Asean Basketball League at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna.
PJ Ramos won his battle with fellow big man Samuel Deguara as he finished with 31 points and 12 rebounds for Alab, which was quick to atone for its first loss of the season, 72-71, at the hands of Westports Malaysia Dragons on Wednesday.
Ramos also got support from Bobby Ray Parks Jr., who finished with 24 points in Alab's sixth win through seven games.
The story, though, was the 7-foot-3 Ramos, who forced the 7-foot-5 Deguara to commit three early fouls and Alab used that to its advantage.
Hong Kong was able to cut Alab’s lead to nine points late in the fourth, but the home team went to Ramos again as he scored back-to-back baskets for an 83-70 lead.
Deguara had 14 points and nine rebounds as Hong Kong saw its four-game winning streak come to an end. Eastern fell to 7-5 overall.
Alab's whirlwind week continues as the squad hits the road to take on Formosa on Sunday.
