STANLEY Pringle had 21 points to lift defending champion Indonesia Warriors to a rousing 72-63 victory over the Westports Malaysia Dragons in Game One of their Asean Basketball League semifinals series Friday night at the Mahaka Square in Jakarta.
John Smith, a fellow Fil-American of Pringle, added 17 points, local Mario Wuysang chipped in 14, and import Steven Thomas grabbed 21 rebounds as the Warriors take a 1-0 lead in their best-of-five showdown.
The other semis pairing saw Sports Rev Thailand Slammers stun top-seed San Miguel Beermen for a similar 1-0 lead in their own series.
Pringle towed the Warriors to an early first quarter lead, before Smith and Wuysang converted a deuce and a triple respectively, to give the champions a 33-17 edge in the second period.
Pringle made it a 60-36 game after an 8-0 Indonesia run in the third.
Fil-American Justin Melton had 19 points for the Dragons, who missed the services of import Marcus Hubbard due to an illness.
