SAN Miguel Alab Pilipinas bucked a slow start to down Zhuhai Wolf Warriors, 105-79, on Friday night and get back on track in the 2019 Asean Basketball League (ABL) at the Doumen Gymnasium in China.
Bobby Ray Parks led the Philippine side's rally from an early 26-19 deficit - 30-8 blitzkrieg capped by a booming PJ Ramos three-pointer that turned the game around, 49-34, just before halftime.
Ramos, who missed the last game due to food poisoning, had a monster triple-double of 15 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists in a game where Alab led by margins as big as 31, 103-72 in the final four minutes.
Renaldo Balkman contributed 19 points, seven boards, five assists, and two steals, while Parks added 13 of his 15 points in that first half rally, alongside three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block.
Alab preserved their stranglehold of the top spot with their 14-3 win-loss record while bouncing back from their 88-83 defeat to Hong Kong Eastern just two days earlier. The Philippine side also improved to 4-3 on the road.
The defending champion also asserted its mastery of the Wolf Warriors after taking their first two meetings of the season. Alab guns for the season sweep on Sunday at Sta. Rosa Multipurpose Complex in Laguna.
Caelan Tiongson added 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, while Brandon Rosser made the most of his chances with 10 and eight in the Alab win.
Zhuhai remained in the cellar of the 10-team tourney with its 2-16 slate after suffering back-to-back losses.
Mike Bell carried the load for the Wolf Warriors with 22 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, and three steals, as Cory Bradford had 17 in the defeat.
