BANGKOK — Paul Zamar had some issues with his peripheral vision while wearing protective goggles but said it was no major concern as he tries to help Mono Vampire extend the ABL title series with Alab Pilipinas.

The Filipino guard wore goggles in the first half of Game Three on Sunday but chose to play without it in the second half, fnishing with solid numbers of 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Mono wound up dropping the match, though, and Zamar hopes to play even better as they try to force a series decider.

Zamar noted Mono needs to play better defense after Alab got 81 points from Bobby Ray Parks, Justin Browlee and Renaldo Balkman in winning Game Three to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.

“We need to execute our defensive game plan. We didn’t really do a good job on sticking to it. We had a lot of lapses that led to open three-point shots and offensive rebounds. If we can minimize those mistakes, we would give ourselves a chance to win the game,” said Zamar.

Zamar said he has been playing with a contusion and irritation in his right eye since Game Two of the ABL semifinals against Chong Son Kung Fu. The eye was also inadvertently hit in Game Two.

“For protection lang sa eye injury ko. Hindi pa kasi talaga fully-healed ‘yung contusion and irritation sa right eye ko. Nasundot nung Game Two kaya pina-try sa akin ng parents ko,” said Zamar.

“Okay naman for forward vision. Medyo blocked ’yung peripheral vision ko kaya inalis ko,” said Zamar.
